Life is Good!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and I’ve got some great news!!  I’ve been chosen to be a member of the inaugural design team for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge!  What is the Word Art Wednesday (WAW) Challenge?   It’s a weekly challenge to incorporate scripture or encouraging quotes in your art projects.  Each Wednesday a scripture verse or encouraging quote is posted on the WAW Challenge blog and your challenge is to incorporate it into your art projects during the week.  You can submit up to 2 projects each week to the challenge and at the end of the week there is a drawing for a prize from one of the blog’s wonderful sponsors.   You can read all the details and challenge guidelines here.

God has gifted each and every one of us with different talents and we are to use these gifts and talents to glorify Him.  The Word Art Wednesday challenge offers me the perfect opportunity to glorify God through the art of scrapbooking and I am so excited to begin my 3 month design team term in January
Today is WAW Challenge #8 and the Word Art is from Psalm 138:8

The Lord will fulfill His purpose for you.

ODBD December Scrapbook Challenge

Hi everyone!!  We're into week 2 of the Our Daily Bread Designs December Scrapbook Challenge.  Because December is a busy time of year and sketches are so easy and fun, we decided to challenge you to another sketch challenge this month! So your scrapbook challenge for December is to: create a layout of any size using ODBD stamps and the sketch below. Have fun with it! Turn it, add more than two photos, make a journaling box, etc. There are lots of fun things you can do with a sketch.

This month I decided to do an 8x8  heritage layout.  After my mom passed away, I found a small photo album that belonged to her mother.  The album is falling apart and I don't know who a lot of the people in the photos are, but I decided to scrapbook the photos to preserve a piece of my past.  This photo is of my grandmother, Ida B,  probably taken in the late 1920's.  The writing on the photo is hers.

I stamped my sentiment with a stamp from the new Little Things stamp set, part of the ODBD Blessings Collection.  The lace is actually a border stamp from the Serve the Lord set, cut out with the coordinating Crocheted Border die.  The coordinating dies make using stamped images on your layouts so easy.  Just stamp the image on a separate piece of cardstock, cut it out using the coordinating die and use it on your layout just like a die cut.  The doily was diecut using the Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doily die and the patterned paper is from the Prima Printery 6x6 paper pad.  I inked the patterned paper a bit using Tim Holtz Distress and Colorbox Chalk Inks to add a little color.

Supplies:
ODBD Little Things and Serve the Lord stamp sets
ODBD Crocheted Border Die
Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doiy Die
Prima Printery 6x6 Paper Pad
Prima Printery Jardinere and Avon Rose Flowers
Recollections Gem Flourish
Tim Holtz Distress and Colorbox Chalk Ink
Fiskars Scallop Border Punch

To see all the challenge guidelines and how you can win a $20 gift certificate to the Our Daily Bread Designs store click here.  The challenge runs through Saturday December 31st, 6:00 PM EST.

I hope you decide to join in this challenge. I can't wait to see what you create

Stickles

Don't you just love Stickles??!!  They make everything so sparkly.  A little Stickles can turn a plain patterned paper into something extraordinary.  For my 4th of July layout I added Stickles to the fireworks on the border strip to give them that extra sparkle.

Supplies:
Patterned Paper & Stickers - some older stuff I had in my stash, not sure who makes it.
Quickutz Yogurt Font
Stickles

11-11-11

Hello Everyone,

Some of you have let me know that you are a little disappointed at the infrequency of my blog posts lately.  I am so humbled and grateful that you actually look forward to seeing my work on a regular basis and I am making a commitment to post more frequently.

Today's layout uses photos that were taken on 11/11/11.  TJ and I were at a local shopping center and we were surprized to see that they had already put up the Christmas decorations.  The pictures are the first photos I took with my new iphone  (thanks Tim :)) and I am really happy with how they turned out considering I wasn't sure of what I was doing LOL.  Can you believe that Verizon actually offers classes on how to use the phone?!

Supplies:
Autumn Leaves patterned paper
ODBD Ornaments 2 stamp set
Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornaments dies

For my layout today,  I used The Word of God stamp set.   I love this set so much that I used all 4 of the stamps in the set on my layout.

I stamped the image twice, fussy cut both of them, colored one with prismacolor pencils and gamsol, and then layered the images with pop dots for dimension.  I stamped the 3 scriptures on journaling blocks that I cut from the patterned paper, embellished them, and used 2 different sizes of pop dots to adhere them in varying levels. The title was cut using Quickutz/Lifestyle Crafts font dies.

Give Thanks...with a grateful heart

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!  We all have so much to be thankful for.  I have been so blessed that if I began to list everything I am thankful for, this post would never end :). So I've decided to just list the top 3...

I am thankful that God is the head of my life, that He will never leave me nor
forsake me, and that I am growing in grace each and every day.

I am thankful for my 2 Tims who love me unconditionally and bless me more
     than they'll ever know.

I am thankful for my parents who raised me according to Proverbs 22:6...Train
a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it.

What are you thankful for?  Take a few moments today to reflect and give thanks.

Not Yet Tall Enough

Today's layout is about a visit to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in the summer of 2006.   Upon entering the park, there is a station where they measure the kids and give them a color coded wristband which indicates which rides they are tall enough to ride.  TJ had just turned 9 and wasn't tall enough to ride any of the "bigger" rides. These photos made me smile while I was creating this layout as now my son is taller than I am.

Supplies:
Piggy Tales Patterned Paper
ODBD Seed Packet and Grow In Grace stamp sets

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to come back to find out when he is tall enough. :)

ODBD November Scrapbook Challenge

Hi Everyone!!  We're into week 2 of the November Our Daily Bread Designs Scrapbook Challenge.  This month's challenge is a color challenge inspired by the beautiful colors of autumn.  Your challenge is to create a layout of any size and theme using Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and this photo as inspiration.

Use any or all of the colors.  Feel free to add basic colors such as brown, black or white and have fun with it!

For my layout I used the Large Scrapbook Words and Randi's Song stamp sets.

I did all my stamping on manila tags that I colored with Tim Holtz Autumn 2011 Seasonal Series Distress Inks.  I die cut the leaves from white cardstock and colored them with the inks as well. I tied the tiny bow on the "Blessed" tag using the small Bow Easy tool.  It was my first time using this tool and it makes tying the perfect bow so easy.  The leafy swirl and leaves were cut using Cheery Lynn Dies.  I'm really liking the intricate cuts you get from this line of dies.

Supplies:
Club Scrap Patterned Paper and Cardstock
ODBD Large Scrapbook Words and Randi's Song stamps
Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish and SM Leaves #1 dies
Maya Road Trim

Lollipop Flowers

I've been admiring the beautiful handmade flowers that my sisters at Our Daily Bread Designs have been using on their cards and I've finally learned how to make them.  They are really easy and fun to make.  All you need is a little bit of satin fabric, a needle and thread, an embellishment for the center, a pair of scissors and a lighter.  I used buttons for my centers. Prima flowers like these are $5 for a pack of 2 or 3.  I made all 3 of these for about 50 cents.  If you search for lollipop flowers on YouTube you can find lots of tutorials on how to make them.   I embellished my layout below with 3 of the flowers.  The photo is of my husband and me in 2007.

Funnel Cakes

I've taken a whole new approach to scrapbooking.  I have so many unscrapped photos and unprinted digital photos that I've come to the realization that I'll never get caught up. So I've abandoned my practice of trying to finish a year at a time or an album at a time, and am just going to scrap what I feel like, in no particular order or theme, no rhyme or reason,  just whatever I'm in the mood to scrap at that moment.  So that being said, my blog will be full of randomness....no more days upon days of vacation layouts (which I still haven't finished LOL),  no layouts covering an entire baseball season or a school year, you'll just be surprized because you'll never know what I'm going to post next.

That being said,  my layout today is about funnel cakes, homemade ones that we made at my brother's house during a 4th of July visit in 2008.  One drawback to randomness is sometimes you can't remember when the photos were taken. LOL  There isn't a year in the journaling on the layout,  but I have since "researched" the photos and the year is 2008.  I did add it to the journaling but was too lazy to take another photo of the layout (smile).

ODBD October Scrapbook Challenge

Hi Everyone!!  I'm back with the October Our Daily Bread Designs Let Your Light Shine Scrapbook Challenge.  This month's challenge is one of my favorites...a sketch challenge!  I love seeing all the different layouts that are created using the same sketch.  Your challenge is to create a layout of any size using Our Daily Bread Designs  stamps and the sketch below.

Have fun with the sketch...turn it, add some journaling or a title, change the number of photos, get creative!!!  Or you can use the sketch just as it is.

For my layout,  I  used the sketch as is and added a title, a journaling block and an embellishment.

I used a scripture and image from the ODBD You Are the Potter stamp set in place of one of the photos.  I stamped the scripture and image on a cardstock square and colored the image with Prismacolor pencils.  I love the new ODBD Joy Tree and I really wanted it to stand out, so I heat embossed it in black on green patterned paper and cut it into a Christmas tree shape.  The doily behind the Joy Tree was cut from patterned paper with the Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doily Die .  I really like doily dies as they allow you to make doilies in any color you want.  My journaling was done on a pre made journaling tag and I used QuicKutz dies to cut my title letters.

Supplies:
Anna Griffin Holiday Traditions Patterned Paper
Creative Imaginations Tradidion Journaling Tag
Making Memories Noel Lace
K & Co. Holiday Cheer Gems

ODBD September Scrapbook Challenge

Have you entered the September Our Daily Bread Designs Let Your Light Shine Scrapbook challenge?  If not, you still have plenty of time to enter.  This month we're challenging you to use vellum.  Yes vellum, that stuff that's just been sitting in your stash for quite awhile.  The challenge is to create a layout using vellum and  ODBD stamp(s).  I haven't used vellum in ages, but I have plenty of it in my stash, so I dug it out and created a 12x12 layout.  I decided to stamp on the vellum using the I Pledge Allegiance stamp and the image from the Not Forgotten stamp set.  I mounted the Pledge of Allegiance on a flag sticker using brads.  I love how the flag image shows through the vellum.

Housework for Homework

One of TJ's homework assignments for his 8th grade family life class last year was to do some housework.  The assignment was to do 3 different types of housework in 3 different rooms of the house.  TJ choose to clean his bathroom, vacumn his bedroom and dust in the living room.  It was the first time he had done any housework and he did a really good job.

For my layout I used the Buggy Designs Housework Die.  I love the little cleaning items in this die. For the duster....I cut the bottom part from a used dryer sheet. I used 3 layers and attached the top of each layer to the handle.  Looks a little like a Swifter, don't you think :):).

CPC Gems Of Inspiration #4

Happy Friday everyone! It’s time for the September Gems of Inspiration scrapbook challenge.

During the past couple weeks I've survived several natural occurrences, or as some people refer to them, natural disasters...the suffocating smoke from the Great Dismal Swamp fire that's been burning for weeks in Virginia, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake, and Hurricane Irene. While sitting in silence in the dark (we were without electricity for awhile due to the hurricane), the following scripture came to mind...

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." James 1:2-3 NIV

So maybe instead of calling these things disasters, we should look at them, perhaps joyfully, as trials we must go through to strenghten our faith. We cannot control their occurrence, but we can control our response to them.
Are we fully relying on God to get us through, or is our faith placed elsewhere?

My inspirational gem for this month comes from the scripture, and the challenge is really simple...create a layout about something or someone that brings you pure JOY!!

I was inspired by this gem to create a layout of my 2 Tims, who always bring me great joy.

Supplies:
BoBunny Timepiece patterned paper, stickers & brads
Our Daily Bread Designs Each Minute and Clock stamps
VersaFine & Tim Holtz Distress inks
LC Wildflower Font
LC Nesting Circles  L-CC-001
QK Nesting Label CC-SHAPE-6-027

I can’t wait to see how this gem inspires you.

Please use the keyword GI04 when uploading your layouts to the CPC gallery. If uploading elsewhere, please use CPC GI04.  Please also link your layout to the CPC Blog post here.

Our Daily Bread Designs September Blog Hop

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs September Release Blog Hop!  If you arrived here from Lisa's  blog, you are in the right place.  If not, you might want to start at the Our Daily Bread Designs blog and hop from there for a chance to win one of several prizes and receive lots of inspiration along the way.

Here are the hop details:
The hop will run from 8 am EDT Sept 1 to 8 pm EDT Sept 2 and there will be prizes!  Five blessed people will win $15 gift certificates for the purchase of any stamps in the Our Daily Bread Designs store.  These certificates will be good for six months.

To qualify to win one of these prizes, hop to each designers blog and leave a comment.  After you have completed the hop, return to the Our Daily Bread Designs blog and leave a comment telling us that you have completed the hop, making note if there were any designers blogs that you couldn't comment on.  In your comment include the answer to the question that appears on the ODBD blog.  The winners will be announced on the Our Daily Bread Designs blog on September 3.

This month's release is all about gardening, so perfect for this time of year.  My layout uses the Seed Packet set,  a fun set that includes a customizeable seed packet plus a scripture. I love this seed packet stamp as it's true to size, perfect for a scrapbook page.  It's large enough to be used for a title block, a journaling block, or even to frame a photo.

I stamped the seed packet on white cardstock and then distressed  it a bit with some Tim Holtz Distress ink. I then stamped the seeds ribbon label portion of the stamp on another piece of cardstock, cut it out, and adhered it to the seed packet with foam tape to give it some dimension. I embellished my page with the Butterfly Single  stamp and the flowers from the Faith set .  Both these stamps have coordinating dies which makes cutting them out a breeze.  I added Tim Holtz Distress stickles to my stamped images for a little sparkle.  I framed the scripture with one of the Scrolly Borders stamps and  then cut it out with a Spellbinders Label 8  die.

Supplies:
Our Daily Bread Designs Stamps:  Seed Packet, Scrolly Borders, Butterfly Single, Faith
Our Daily Bread Designs Dies:  Butterfly, Butterfly Branch

Earthquake?? No Way!!!

What did I do today??...Survive an earthquake!!   We're visiting my Dad in Philly for a few days and decided to take a day trip to Atlantic City. We were in a gift shop on the boardwalk when the quake hit.  TJ and I felt the floor vibrating and saw one of the shelves shaking, we wondered what was up but didn't think much of it.  When we left the store we overheard lots of people talking about an earthquake, but it still didn't register.  Tim finally decided to ask someone what they were talking about and they told us about the earthquake... 5.8 magnitude and the epicenter was in Virginia!  We were shocked.  Tim and my Dad didn't feel anything on the boardwalk, but a lot of people on the beach felt it and they had evacuated some of the stores.  I never thought I'd experience an earthquake, guess now I don't have to add that to my bucket list (smile).

No layout today since I'm away, but here's a couple of photos from our little trip.

Crazy Love

If you are here for the ODBD Scripture Series 2 release, please scroll down one post.

Hi Everyone!!!  You still have time to create a layout for the August Our Daily Bread Designs Let Your Light Shine Scrapbook Challenge.  This month's challenge is to create a layout of any size using at least one number, one embellishment and Our Daily Bread Designs stamp(s).  You can use a number in your title, your journaling, as a page element...wherever your creativity takes you.  However, dating your page does not count as your number.

Today's layout is a 12 x 12 page of my husband and I enjoying a day at Busch Gardens. I decided to incorporate my number in my title so I used the number"4" instead  of the word "for". My scripture is from the newly released Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture Series 2 set.  If you haven't seen this set yet, you can read all about it on the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog.

Family Ties

Happy Thursday!!  I am having so much fun creating with the dies from the Lifestyle Crafts Possibilities release.  Today I'm using the Nesting Frame 4 set.   I used 4 of the dies that come in this set, the largest 2 as a background for my photo and 2 of the smaller ones for my journaling block.

Supplies:
Sei Windsor patterned paper
Jenni Bowlin Memo Notebook
Zva Creative Self Adhesive Pearls
Making Memories Paper Reverie Flower
Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Frame 4  DC0177
Buttons, Lace

While going through my Mom's things after she passed ten years ago, I found a small photo album that belonged to her mother.  The album contained photos of family members and friends that dated back to the early 1900's.  Unfortunately I don't know who a lot of the people in the photos are, but I love looking at them as they give me a glimpse into my grandmother's life.  The little album is falling apart and some of the photos have faded, but I decided to preserve that small piece of my past in an 8 x 8 scrapbook and pass it on to my son, who never got a chance to meet his great grandmother.  The photo in today's layout is of my grandmother when she was a young woman, it was taken sometime in the late 1920's.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day!

ODBD August Scrapbook Challenge

We're in the second week of the August Our Daily Bread Designs Let Your Light Shine Scrapbook Challenge.  With the start of the new school year right around the corner, we decided to have some fun playing with numbers.  This month's challenge is to create a layout of any size using at least one number, one embellishment and Our Daily Bread Designs stamp.  You can use a number in your title, your journaling, as a page element...wherever your creativity takes you.  However, dating your page does not count as your number.

For this challenge I created a 12 x 12 layout, using a photo of my Dad and 3 of his friends at his 80th birthday party in January of 2009.  My Dad is the 3rd from the left in the photo.  I used a number in my title, in the strip to the left of the photo, in my journaling, and along the side of my journaling ticket.  I used a scripture from Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture Collection 2 to accent my page. My embellishments are vintage buttons and a Tim Holtz Ornate Bookplate.

Supplies:
Graphic 45 Proper Gentleman Collection patterned paper
Bazzill cardstock
Tim Holtz Filmstrip Ribbon, Ornate Bookplates, Distress Ink, Journaling Tickets, Staples
Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture Collection 2 stamp
floss, buttons, ink
QK Stardust and Biography fonts, Nesting Label CC-SHAPE-6-027

CPC Gems of Inspiration #3

It's time for the August Gems of Inspiration Challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts.

This month’s inspirational gem is a seasonal one. Here in Virginia we are deep in the midst of summer and August is usually the hottest month of the year. Summer reminds me of lots of colors. Red, oranges, and yellows reflect the summer heat and teals, blues, and greens remind me of cooling waters. Red, white, and black reminds me of picnics and ants, and whites and tans remind me of sandy beaches.

Let this month's gem inspire you to create a layout incorporating the colors of summer. The layout can be any theme, whatever the summer colors inspire you to create.

I was inspired by this gem to create a 2 page layout using colors associated with cooling waters, something we need a lot of during the hot August days.

Supplies:
Flair Designs patterned paper
Bazzill cardstock
Jolee's Boutique, Pebbles Inc. & Flair Designs stickers
Martha Stewart journaling block
Heidi Swapp gems
QK Swimsuit  KS-0569
QK Swim Trunks KS-0566
QK Flip Flops RS-0026
QK Stoplight RS-0990

I can’t wait to see how this gem inspires you.

Please link your creation to the CPC blog post here.  Use the keyword GI03 when uploading your layouts to the CPC gallery. If uploading elsewhere, please use CPC GI03.

This is My Game

Happy Thursday Everyone!

For today's layout I decided to do something I usually don't do... I cropped my photos into a shape that's not a square or rectangle.  I can't remember that last time I did that, but when I received the Nesting Diamond dies from the new Lifestyle Crafts Possibilities release, I realized that these dies would be great for cropping photos.  I used the largest diamond for my photo mats and the next smaller size diamond to crop my photos.  The photos are of my son playing basketball in 2009.

Supplies:
Moxxie & Creative Imaginations patterned paper
Basketball textured paper
Bazzill cardstock
Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Diamonds DC0172
Quickutz Basketball REV-2-2-0101
Quickutz Metro Mini Font
K & Co. Smash Date Stamp

Check out the new Possiblitites release over at Scrapbuggy.  There are tons of nesting dies in this release, great for cropping and matting photos.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day.

ODBD August Release

Happy August Everyone!!!

Seems like this summer is flying by.  One more month and summer vacation will be over, the new school year will begin and we'll be back to our regular busy routine.  That being said, it's the first of the month and that means there's a new release from Our Daily Bread Designs.

The August release is sew cute...it's all about sewing.  Whether you're a seamstress or not,  you'll love these stamps.  The only sewing I do these days is on paper LOL,  but I have really enjoyed working with this release.  You can see all the new stamps at Our Daily Bread Designs

For today's layout I used 2 stamps from the Sewn with Love set.  The pin cushion, needle, and thread spool were cut with Quickutz dies.  I used QK metal sheets for the needle and the pins, and I used pearls for the pin heads. I used the Sew Easy straight stitching head to evenly space my stitching around the stamped sentiment.  The photos are of my friend Anjenic and me at our church's annual women's Christmas fellowship.

Supplies:
Little Yellow Bicycle Patterned Paper
ODBD Sewn with Love stamps
VersaFine Black Ink
Buttons, Floss, Gems, Pearls
QK Metal Sheets
QK Pin Cushion KS-0954, Needle & Thread  KS-1012, English Rose Font

Our Daily Bread Designs is having an August release blog hop.  The hop runs until tomorrow August 2, 8 PM EST and there will be prizes. Five blessed people will win $20.00 Gift Certificates for the purchase of any stamps in the ODBD Store.  These certificates will be good for 6 months!  You can check out all the details on the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog.

A little peek ...

Happy Thursday everyone!

For today's layout I decided to use the Lifestyle Crafts Splash cookie cutter dies from the LC Tropical Splash release plus give you a little peek at one of the new dies from the Lifestyle Crafts CHA release.  The photos are of my son at Myrtle Beach, SC in July of 2006.

The new Lifestyle Crafts release includes 30 different nesting shape die sets.  On my layout today, I used 3 of the dies from the Nesting Frame 2 set which includes 8 dies total.  The dies are sized so the you have a perfect mat for each of the frames. I used 2 of the dies to frame my stamped quote and I used the smallest die as a tag for my date. You will be able to check out and purchase all the new dies at Scrapbuggy within the next week or so.  Be sure to sign up for the Scrapbuggy Newsletter so you will be notified as soon as the dies arrive.

PSX stamp
VersaFine and Tim Holtz Distress inks

CPC July Blog Hop

It's blog hop time over at Christian Paper Crafts.  This month's theme is "Retro and Vintage".  I decided to do vintage with a twist.  I used some current photos on a layout that has a vintage feel.  I used photos from my son's intermediate band concert in December 2009.  Unfortunately he played in his last concert this spring as he decided that he didn't want to continue band in high school.

The papers are from the Graphic 45 Curtain Call collection. I distressed and inked the edges of the tan background cardstock to give it a more vintage feel.  I covered the cardstock behind the bottom right photo with Tim Holtz tissue tape.

Supplies:
Graphic 45 Curtain Call paper
Bazzill Cardstock
Tim Holtz Symphony Tissue Tape, Journaling Tickets, Distress Ink, Staples
Brads
QK Studio-mini font
QK Musical Notes border die  CC-BDR-071
LC Arrows die  DR-0093
