Play Ball!!!

Baseball season has officially started at our house.  TJ was drafted to the Nationals this year and practices are in full swing.  His first practice was Saturday, which unfortunately was also the coldest day we've had for quite awhile.  So while the boys braved the elements, as soon as the team meeting was over,  I retreated to the warmth of my car.

To celebrate the new baseball season,  I thought I'd share a couple layouts from years past...

Hope you enjoyed seeing TJ in action.  More New Orleans layouts are coming soon.

New Orleans Continued

I've been so busy lately that I haven't had a chance to post to my blog in over a week, but the major project that has been occupying my time is now over and I can get back to blogging again. Yeah!!!  It's getting closer to my self imposed deadline for my vacation album and now I'm wondering if I'm going to make it.  We're still in New Orleans and I haven't even begun to think about the Florida  leg of our trip.  Yikes!!!

Here are a couple more layouts from New Orleans...

It was fascinating to watch the Dog Walker of Bourbon St.  He was standing perfectly still with his stuffed dog, but it looked as if he was in motion.  We stood and watched him for a long time and he didn't move a muscle.

Don't forget that if you click on the layouts,  you will get a larger version.

Stay tuned for more from New Orleans in the upcoming days....

New Orleans

I'm still working on my Summer Vacation 2010 album and my goal is to get it done by Easter. Last Wednesday was Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, so now I have less than 40 days to get it finished.
The last vacation layout I posted was of our arrival in Louisiana, and now we're in New Orleans.  We went to New Orleans last summer for a family reunion. No, my family isn't from NOLA, but one of our cousins now lives there and he was the host for the reunion.

New Orleans is famous for Mardi Gras, and even though we went during the summer, there were traces of Mardi Gras everywhere.  Here, my husband and dad are sitting in front of a store that sells nothing but Mardi Gras trinkets and souvenirs.

Our first walk down the famous Bourbon Street was during the afternoon while it was daylight. Even during the daytime we saw some "interesting" sights.

Stay tuned for more of our NOLA adventure ...

Scraps of Color Heritage Blog Hop

I'm participating in the Scraps of Color Heritage Blog Hop.  I, along with some talented crafters, have teamed up to bring you our memories and our history crafted with paper. A blog hop isn’t complete without blog candy and we have a nice prize awaiting you.  To be eligible for the prize drawing you must visit all the blogs participating in the hop and leave a comment on each blog.  One lucky winner will be randomly drawn from all that leave comments.

For my history,  I did a layout about our family's visit to the Wye Plantation, which is the plantation that my ancestors worked as slaves.

If you click on the layout, you will get an enlarged version, then click again and with the little magnifying glass  you will be able to read the journaling.

Here's the list of all the blogs participating in the hop.

More fun with my 2 Tims

Our family has been involved in the Awana program at our church for years. For those of you that are not familiar with Awana, the letters stand for  Approved workmen are not ashamed and it's taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.  Awana is an international, non-denominational program whose mission is to help churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ. Before our church's Awana club takes a break for the summer, they have a Pie in the Eye night.  Throughout the year, the kids earn chances to "pie" their favorite Awana leader by completing sections in their Awana handbooks.  The more sections they complete, the more chances they get. On Pie in the Eye night,  2 names from each of the 3 Awana age groups are drawn.  TJ (Tim #2) was one of the winners and you can guess who his favorite leader is...
