A little peek ...

Happy Thursday everyone!

For today's layout I decided to use the Lifestyle Crafts Splash cookie cutter dies from the LC Tropical Splash release plus give you a little peek at one of the new dies from the Lifestyle Crafts CHA release.  The photos are of my son at Myrtle Beach, SC in July of 2006.

The new Lifestyle Crafts release includes 30 different nesting shape die sets.  On my layout today, I used 3 of the dies from the Nesting Frame 2 set which includes 8 dies total.  The dies are sized so the you have a perfect mat for each of the frames. I used 2 of the dies to frame my stamped quote and I used the smallest die as a tag for my date. You will be able to check out and purchase all the new dies at Scrapbuggy within the next week or so.  Be sure to sign up for the Scrapbuggy Newsletter so you will be notified as soon as the dies arrive.

Bazzill cardstock
PSX stamp
VersaFine and Tim Holtz Distress inks

CPC July Blog Hop

It's blog hop time over at Christian Paper Crafts.  This month's theme is "Retro and Vintage".  I decided to do vintage with a twist.  I used some current photos on a layout that has a vintage feel.  I used photos from my son's intermediate band concert in December 2009.  Unfortunately he played in his last concert this spring as he decided that he didn't want to continue band in high school.

The papers are from the Graphic 45 Curtain Call collection. I distressed and inked the edges of the tan background cardstock to give it a more vintage feel.  I covered the cardstock behind the bottom right photo with Tim Holtz tissue tape.

Supplies:
Graphic 45 Curtain Call paper
Bazzill Cardstock
Tim Holtz Symphony Tissue Tape, Journaling Tickets, Distress Ink, Staples
Brads
QK Studio-mini font

CPC Gems of Inspiration #2

It's time for another Gem's of Inspiration Challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts.  Due to some changes in the challenge schedule, the July Gem's of Inspiration didn't get posted on the 1st Thursday of July as previously scheduled, but you still have lots of time to complete this challenge.

Here in the U.S. we recently celebrated Independence Day, commonly known as the 4th of July. A little U.S. history…The 4th of July is a holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Independence Day is commonly associated with all things red, white and blue, fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches and ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States.

This month’s inspirational gem comes from the 4th of July. Let this gem inspire you to create a layout incorporating one of the things commonly associated with July 4th. Your layout doesn’t have to be about July 4th at all, just about one of the things that is associated with the 4th. It could be a layout that incorporates red, white and blue, a picnic layout, a family gathering layout, a baseball layout… whatever you are inspired to create.

I was inspired by this gem to create a red, white and blue layout of our visit to the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, PA.

Supplies:
K & Co. Americana Patterned Paper, Stickers & Borders
Divine twine
Buttons
Quickutz Nesting Stars
Quickutz Chandelier Font

I can’t wait to see how this gem inspires you.

Please link your creation to the CPC blog post here.  Use the keyword GI02 when uploading your layouts to the CPC gallery. If uploading elsewhere, please use CPC GI02.

Beginning this week,  the Christian Paper Crafts scrapbook challenges will move to Fridays.  There is a different challenge each week and you have an entire month to complete the challenge.  The next Gems of Inspiration Challenge is August 5.   All challenges are posted on the CPC Blog.  Subscribe to the blog here so you won't miss out on any of the fun.

ODBD July Scrapbook Challenge

You still have plenty of time to enter the July Our Daily Bread Designs Let Your Light Shine Scrapbook Challenge.  This month's challenge is a fun one involving circles and colors.  Your challenge for this month is to create a layout of any size using at least one circle, Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, and your favorite color or a color in your photo(s). Your circle(s) can be included by using embellishments, the way you cut a photo, etc. Have fun!

Before I get to my challenge inspiration,  I have some great news! Remember a couple weeks ago I shared that I was the Guest Scrapbook Team Member at Our Daily Bread Designs for July and August. Well, I was asked to join the ODBD Scrapbook Team!!!  So now I'll get to share my ODBD creations with you for the rest of the year.  Praise God for His continued blessings!

For this challenge I created a 12x12 layout using a photo of my son and my 2 nieces. I used the colors of their clothing for my layout colors.  I cut my main patterned paper into a large circle for the background of my layout, and I stamped a scripture from ODBD Scripture Collection 6 on a smaller circle which I tucked under a patterned paper strip. I also used the new ODBD Large Scrapbook Words to embellish my page.

Supplies:
Sei On the Coast Patterned Paper and Chipboard Shapes
ODBD Scripture Collection 6 and Large Scrapbook Words
Karen Foster Designs Sticker
Quickutz Nesting Circles CC-SHAPE-14-024

Tim Holtz Staples

More Fun With Tropical Splash

I'm lovin' the cookie cutter Sunset die from the Lifestyle Crafts Tropical Splash release.  It comes in 5 separate pieces that you can mix and match to make your own border scene, so it's really versatile.  On my Sunset layout I cut the border strip out of  a water patterned paper to go with my photos of a sunset over the water.

Supplies:
American Traditionals Patterned Paper
Bazzill & Coordinations Cardstock
American Crafts Journaling Tag
Lifestyle Crafts Sunset Die
Lifestyle Crafts Rings  DC0067
Quickutz English Rose Font
Ribbon

For my second project I used the Palm Tree Frame die to decorate a "bon voyage" gift box.  The box was made with the mini pizza box die.   I cut the Palm Tree Frame in 3 different colors of cardstock and pieced them together to add a little detail to the frame.

Supplies:
Bazzill Cardstock
Colorbox Chalk Ink

A Rainy Day

There's nothing worse for a middle-schooler than rain on the first day of school.  Your Mom makes you wear that yucky raincoat and sometimes carry an unbrella and you can't stand at the bus stop and catch up with you schoolmates.  However, a rainy first day is the best for a scrapbooking Mom.  You see, in middle school you are just NOT allowed to go to the bus stop EVER.  And for you to be seen taking pictures on the first day of school,  how embarrasing and uncool.  However it is cool to be driven to the bus stop on a rainy day. So this scrapbooking Mom was able to sneak pics (from the car window) of her middle-schooler getting on the bus on the first day of school.

To title my layout I used the Exclusive Buggy Designs April Showers die and the Merry and Bright font.  I think the little boots are just too cute.  This 4x4 die also includes a folded umbrella.  I applied Glossy Accents over the puddle and raindrops to give them a "wet" look.

Other supplies:
KI Memories Patterned Paper & Ribbon
Bazzill Cardstock
Creative Imaginations License Plate
Jenni Bowlin Tiny Alphabets
Ranger Glossy Accents
QK Raindrops Die RS-0150

This year we'll be starting High School.  Maybe I should hope for rain LOL.

Castles in the Sand

I love all things summer and the Lifestyle Crafts new Tropical Splash release is fast becomming one of my favorite releases.   For my layout today I used 2 of the dies from the release, the Sand Castle and the Sunset.  What I love about the Sunset die is that it comes in 5 separate pieces so you can use a portion of the die, or the whole scene.  For this layout I only used the beach portion of the Sunset die.

After I die cut the pieces of the sand castle and the beach, I covered them with Mud Puddles sand before I assembled them.  It was a little messy, but I love the realistic look it gave to the sand castle.

Supplies used:
Cloud 9 Designs papers, brads and chipboard stickers
Bazzill cardstock
Mudpuddles Sand
Basic Grey trim & ric rac
QK Beach Shapes CC-SHAPE-12
QK Summer Shapes CC-SHAPE-11

You can view the entire release at Scrapbuggy.
Thanks for stopping by.
