Faith Sparks

Does your faith and creativity need a little spark? Do you feel like you are just going through the motions? Reading your Bible when you have time, sending up a quick prayer when you need something, not scrapbooking or journaling because you have no time or creative mojo?

Introducing "Faith Sparks" by Faithfully Yours.   Faith Sparks will encourage and inspire you to ponder a variety of faith topics. Your faith will grow while exercising your creativity and passing encouragement along to others.

Faith Sparks are available for download at the Faithfully Yours store.  Each topic-based Faith Spark includes:
  • a devotional
  • supporting scripture
  • journal prompts
  • creative ideas
  • Pass it On card

The first Faith Sparks topic is Renewal and Faithfully Yours is offering the  Renewal Faith Spark for FREE so you can try it out. Get it in the Faithfully Yours shop and download right away.

The second Faith Spark... Perseverance... is now available.    Here's a layout I created inspired by the Perseverance Faith Spark.

The layout is about TJ persevering when part of his science fair project didn’t turn out as planned. Instead of accepting defeat, and only turning in a partially completed project, he persevered, regrouped, and redid the part that didn’t go as originally planned. His perseverance was rewarded as he earned an “A”.

For the layout I used patterned papers from the Faithfully Yours Back to School Collection.  I love this collection because the papers can be customized to your school colors. I also used the Pass It On digital printable card from the Perseverance Faith Spark. The science fair project stickers are by Jolee's Boutique.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  3 blog posts in a week!  I think that's a record for me LOL.

Don't forget to stop by Faithfully Yours and get your free Renewal Faith Spark .

Blessings!

Word Art Wednesday #65

It's Word Art Wednesday time!!  Today's word art is from the Book of Isaiah...

Weapons come in all forms, tangible ones that do physical harm and intangible ones, such as words and actions, that do mental and spiritual harm.  If we are God's children, followers of Christ, and we keep his commands, God has got our back!  Weapons formed against us may be permitted for a time to appear to prosper,  but ultimately they will fail.  Isn't that good news!!!

When I read today's scripture, I immediately thought of TJ's  first solo in our church's youth choir many years ago.  It was a song titled "No Weapon" by Fred Hammond.  Here are some of the lyrics from the song...

No weapon formed against me shall prosper, it won’t work
No weapon formed against me shall prosper, it won’t work
God will do what He said He would do
He will stand by His word and He will come through, yeah
God will do what He said He would do
He will stand by His word and He will come through
No weapon formed against me shall prosper, it won’t work

For my layout today  I used a photo from TJ's earlier choir days.  All the kids in the photo are now in high school.  Time sure does fly.

There Is A Time To Dance

I have some wonderful news to share today!  I've been asked to be on the design team of  Daydream Designs, a digital stamp store.  I am so excited because digital stamps (also called digis) are new territory for me.  Digis are mainly used by card makers and digital scrapbookers, so I'm looking forward to bringing them to the world of traditional scrapbooking.  In addition to digital images,  Daydream Designs has digital word art and patterned papers.  And for those of us who haven't yet hopped on the Copic bandwagon LOL, most of DD digis are available in precolored versions as well as the traditional black and white.

While browsing the Daydream Designs store,  I fell in love with a set called  My Heart Still Dances.  The girls in the set with their beautiful dresses reminded me of a photo of my Mom dressed for a high school dance, her prom I think, that was in my grandmother's photo album.

All images, patterned paper and word art used on the layout are from Daydream Designs.  The gems are by Recollections and Heidi Swapp and I used Spellbinders and QuicKutz dies.

Here are the links to the  DD sets I used:

Thanks so much Diane for asking me to be a part of your design team.

I hope you all join me on this journey into the world of digital stamps.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Blessings to you!

Word Art Wednesday #64

It's Word Art Wednesday time!  Today's Word Art comes for the Book of Romans...

Our God is a loving and patient God.  He deals with all our faults and mess ups time and time again. As He is patient with us,  he also gives us the spirit of patience.  We who are in Christ are to loving deal with the faults and peculiarities of our brothers and sisters just as He deals with ours.  God also gives us a spirit of unity, a sensitivity to the needs of our brothers and sisters that causes us to lift them up and encourage them.  The end result of all we say and do must be that God be glorified. There is no better way to achieve this than by the mutual love and kindness of those in Christ.

For my page today, I used a photo of some of the executive board members of my church's Women's Ministry.  It was taken at a leadership training retreat that we attended in July 2012.  Although we may not always agree on the details of programs for the ministry, we agree to disagree in love and we are always united on one accord with our main goal, to glorify God in all that we do.

Faithfully Yours Topical Tuesday

There's a new challenge starting today at Faithfully Yours.  It's called Topical Tuesday.  Every other Tuesday a new word will be posted on the Faithfully Yours Blog.  Your challenge is to create a page (or whatever medium you decide) based on the word posted for that week.
  • What does this word mean to you?
  • How does this word help you?
  • How does this word help you encourage others?
  • Or mainly what is your favorite scripture based on this word.
Some ideas of what you can create include:
  • 4×6 index cards
  • ATC cards
  • 6x6 albums
  • paper bag albums
  • create your own mini album
Choose a method that works well for you.  You can join anytime and complete at your own pace.  There's no need to sign up, just follow the Faithfully Yours Blog or my blog to get the biweekly word.  Then you can  share your work on the Faithfully Yours Blog using the linky tool on the blog post. There you will also find meditations on the word by Barbara Graves, the challenge hostess,

I decided to do 4x6 index cards for the challenge.  I choose this size because I can slip the cards in a brag book and carry it with me as needed :).  On the front of the cards I am including scriptures based on the word and on the back I will add my personal thoughts.

Today's word is "Thoughts".

I choose 3 scriptures for my card...Philippians 4:8, Romans 8:5-6 and Isaiah 55:8.

The papers are from the Faithfully Yours Summer Soiree Collection.  4x6 cards are a great way to use leftover papers from other projects.  The letters were cut using the Die-Versions Mermaid font.

I hope you join in the challenge.  I'd love to see how the words inspire you.

Blessings!

Word Art Wednesday #63

Happy Wednesday!  Today's word art is from the Book of Revelations...

To be totally honest,  when I read today's word I wasn't exactly sure what it was saying.  Sometimes reading the verse in a couple different translations provides clarity for me, so I decided to read it from the New International Version and the New Living Translation.

To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of lifeNIV

To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.  NLT

Jesus is the living water, the water of life.  He is our salvation, the only way to the Father and eternal life.  Salvation is ours for the asking.  It isn't forced on anyone,  but given freely, without cost, to all who desire it.  The water of life, an ever flowing fountain,  is given freely to all who are thirsty.  Won't you have a drink?

The photo on my layout today is from our family reunion this summer in California.  It was taken at the Exposition Park Rose Garden in Los Angeles, where we posed for our family photo, in front of a beautiful fountain.  My prayer for my family is that they all drink from the spring of the water of life so they will thirst no more.

Word Art Wednesday #62

It's Word Art Wednesday time!!  Unfortunately I'm having blogger problems  and I can't upload any images to my blog, so I'll give you links to the Word Art Wednesday blog where you can get today's word art and view my layout. .  but thanks to Kinkybella's help I was able to upload the images to my post.

Today's word comes from the Book of Psalms...

I  desire cleanliness...cleanliness of heart, cleanliness of thought, word and deed, cleanliness in all aspects of my life.  I desire a heart that will not yield to temptation, but stay steadfast in the word of God.  Man, in and of himself, is filled with sin.  We are sinners, saved by the grace of God.  When the sin nature of the flesh appears,  my prayer is that God would cleanse my heart and renew a right spirit within me.  True cleansing can only come from God, for He is absolutely pure and holy.

I used a photo of myself on my layout today as I desire God's cleansing and renewal daily.  You can view my page on the Word Art Wednesday blog post .

Word Art Wednesday #61

Happy New Year!!!  It's the 2nd day of 2013 and I am feeling so blessed...blessed to be able to share  more word art with you.  God has such wonderful things in store for Word Art Wednesday in 2013.  Check out this Word Art Wednesday Blog post for a taste of all the great things to come.

Today's word art comes from the Book of Psalms...

I think today's scripture is so fitting for the start of the new year.  If for 2013 we purpose to put our trust in the Lord instead of in man,  just imagine how great the year would be.

This year I'm dedicating my first layout of the year to the Lord.  To keep the focus on God,  I decided not to use a photo on my layout.  Instead I used a digi stamp from one of this week's sponsors, Eureka Stamps, for my focal point.  I used the Names Background  digi and printed it out as if it was my photo.  As the first page of my Word Art Wednesday Album,  this layout will serve as a weekly reminder to put my trust in the Lord.

Supplies:
Sei Patterned Paper & Cardstock
Recollections Gems
