I used the MFP  set to make my flowers.  I stamped them, fussy cut them, and colored them with gellatos.  They are actually sunflower images, but after cutting and coloring them they take on a whole different look.

Supplies:
Sei Patterned Paper
Bazzill Cardstock
Gems
Memento Ink
Gellatos

Word Art Wednesday #77

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank you all for taking the time to visit my blog.  Your wonderful comments are such a blessing to me.

Today's word art comes from the Book of Psalms...

Psalm 103 is a hymn to God's love and compassion towards his people. The first few verses of the Psalm celebrate the personal benefits we receive as children of God.  And just what are these blessings?

who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
                                                                                                                Psalm 103:3-5

God is our loving father who delights in blessing his children.  I'm so glad that I'm a daughter of the King!!!

For my layout I used a photo of myself that I took during an early morning walk while I was at our church's annual women's retreat a couple weeks ago.   Being out alone, in the quiet of the early morning, is the perfect opportunity to reflect on all of God's blessings.  It's the perfect time to "Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10.  And be thankful!!!

I selected another of my grandmother's photos for my page today.  My grandmother had written the name Everleola Ivy on the photo.   What an unusual name, but I guess for that time in the south,  it probally wasn't so different.  It don't know anything about Everleola, but I do remember my grandmother talking about "Ivy's " and I think they were distant cousins of ours.

In addition to the main recipe ingredients,  I used photo, ribbon and gems as my add ins.  I think I may go back and add some stickles to the flower centers.  My patterned paper is by Websters Pages and I used the sentiment stamp from the MFP April release Columns and Topiaries stamp set as my journaling.

I can't wait to see what you create for this week's challenge! To be eligible to win the free stamp set be sure to link your page to MFP SpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge #11 and mention the MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge in your blog post. I hope you aren't getting tired of seeing photos from my grandmother's album.  I am really enjoying scrapbooking them and getting a glimpse into her and my mother's life.  Unfortunately neither of them are here to tell me about the photos so I am having fun imagining what is going on in some of the pictures.  The picture on my page is of 2 of my mother's younger brothers.  The picture is really faded but if you look closely you can see that they are carrying books, so they must be on their way to or from school. I'm guessing they spotted someone with a camera and stopped to strike a "cool"  pose.  My mother had several brothers and because the faces are a little faded, I wasn't exactly sure which brother's the were.  But to my great surprize, when I pried the photo off of the album page,  I discovered that my grandmother had written their names on the back.  I scanned the back of the photo and printed it so I could add their names to the layout in her handwriting.

I decided I wanted to grunge up this layout so I got out my Distrezz-it-All and my Tim Holtz Distresser and distressed some of the patternend papers.  To add a little more grunge to the paper,  I stamped the edges with a couple of Mark's Finest Papers background stamps.  To tie in the school theme, I stamped the globe on a scrap of the patterned paper, fussy cut it and added it to the page with pop dots.

Supplies:
Making Memories Patterned Paper & Tag
Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Word Art Wednesday #75

Hi,  glad you stopped by for some new word art.  This week's word  comes from the Book of Jeremiah...

Jeremiah was passionate about the Word of God.  In today's verse, he is talking to God.  He is talking to God about God's words.   Jeremiah received God's words with great joy.  He digested them, assimilated them, he made them a part of himself.  Jeremiah was privileged to have God's word.  We have that same privilege.

For today's layout I used a photo of my women's bible study group.  We had just finished Beth Moore's  "Living Free" study. To make God's words a part of yourself, you have to know God's Word.  And to know God's Word you must study it.

Supplies:
Sei Patterned Paper
Recollections Lace and Gems
Spellbinders Die

Word Art Wednesday #74

Hi Everyone,

This week's word art comes from the Book of Psalms...

Psalm 91 is a psalm of protection.  It details God's promises of protection for His people.  Today's verse tells us that God has assigned His angels to protect us. He has given them charge over us.  God has given the angels, and not the circumstances, the authority to act on our behalf.  If we look to God as our source, then His angels are always watching over us and protecting us.

Of all the photos in my Grandmother's album, I was most excited to find this one.  It's a picture of my mother, her younger sister and me when I was less than a month old.  We were on the front patio of my parents' house.  I was just on this same patio a day ago when we were visiting my Dad for Easter.  I am so thankful that God dispatched His angels to watch over me.  If it wasn't for this protection,  I know I would not have grown from where I was in the photo to the person I am today.
