Word Art Wednesday #82

It's Word Art Wednesday time!  This week's word art comes from the Book of Proverbs...

Today is May 29th, my mother's birthday. She would have been 81 today.  In honor of her birthday I used her photo on today's layout.  It was taken in 1957, when she was 25.  I'm learning from these old photos that my mother was quite the fashionista and so very glamorous. My mother was a God fearing woman who was confident that God loved her, delighted in her, and protected her.  I'm so grateful that she passed this on to my brother and me.

I hope you join the Word Art Wednesday challenge this week. Feel free to save today's word art to your computer for your personal use. Word Art Wednesday #81

Happy Wednesday!!!  It's time for some new Word Art.  This week's word comes from 2 Thessalonians...

This week I'm using another photo of my grandfather and his friends, taken on the same day as last week's photo.  This photo is really interesting to me.  I'm imagining they were hanging out on a Sunday afternoon,  perhaps after church.   The two men on the left in the back row are looking at a book... maybe a bible?  Because what other book would a group of men be carrying around? Then we have the two men in the middle of the front row.  They are doing something with their hands...is it a 1930's style fist pump???  One thing I do know for sure...the Lord is faithful, and it was only Him that protected them from the evil of that period in time.

Word Art Wednesday #80

Welcome back to Word Art Wednesday.  This week's word is from the book of Isaiah...

While pondering this verse of scripture,  I came across a commentary that sums it up very well...
He giveth power to the faint... Who are ready to faint under afflictions, because they have not immediate deliverance, or their prayers are not answered at once, or promises not fulfilled as they expected, to such he gives fresh supplies of spitritual strength, he sterngthens their faith and enlarges their views, to behold the goodness of the Lord in the land ot the living, and confirms his blessings and promises of grace unto them.

For my page today,  I used a photo of my grandfather (my mother's father), and a bunch of his friends.  This photo was taken in Mississippi in the 1920's or 30's.  Those of you that are familiar with US history during this time period know what challenges these men faced.  I know the Lord must have given them power and strengthened their faith in order for them to have endured their life trials.

Word Art Wednesday #79

Hi !! It's Wednesday, time for this week's word art.  Our word today is from Proverbs....

The virtuous woman of Proverbs 31... when we compare ourselves to the resume of God's ideal woman, we may find very quickly that we don't measure up.  The good news is that virtue must first begin in the heart.  We need to fill our hearts and minds with God's real standard to become a virtuous woman.   Developing the qualities of the virtuous woman is a process that takes place over time, it's a lifelong journey.  But our God is a patient and loving God that doesn't expect perfection, all he asks is that we have teachable spirits and receptive hearts prepared to receive His word.

For my layout,  I used a picture of my Mom, the most virtuous woman I know, when she was in her twenties.  She went to be with the Lord on May 2, 12 years ago ago.   I learned so much from her and I wouldn't be the woman I am today without her love and guidance.   So in honor of her memory and Mother's Day this Sunday , I am dedicating today's post to her.

MFP Scrapbook Challenge #13

It's time for a new scrapbook challenge over at  MFP SpeedyTV !! This week's challenge is a color challenge.  Your challenge is to use the colors of spring on your layout. There are no certain colors that you must use, just use colors that say spring to you.

Remember this challenge is strictly scrapbook layouts, no cards please, and you have to use stamps on your layouts. They don't have to be Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co stamps but if you do use them you will receive an additional entry for a chance to win our May weekly stamp prize ...

I wanted to use the images from the MFP Zoo Friends set on my layout so I looked for a  photo in my grandmother's album that I could use with the cute stamps. I stamped the images on patterned paper in spring colors to go with the theme of the challenge. The little children in the photo are related to my grandmother as I know their last name is in her family line.   I'll have to do some research to figure out what the relation is.  What really interests me about this photo is little Steward on the far right.  He 's wearing a dress just like his sisters.

Supplies:
Making Memories Patterned Paper & Embellishments
MFP Zoo Friends Stamp Set
Memento Ink

Word Art Wednesday #78

Hi!  It's time for some new word art.  This week's word comes from the Book of Psalms...

Today's verse is one of my favorite scriptures.  In fact, it comes to mind whenever  there are "issues" between my son and I (smile).  I used it on one of the first scrapbook pages I ever created, in his baby book, almost 16 years ago.  Children are indeed a blessing from the Lord, they are a precious gift from God.

When I received my digital image from Robyn's Fetish, one of our sponsor's this week, I knew exactly which picture I wanted to use for my layout.  It's a photo of my son, taken when he was 6.

Supplies:
Little Yellow Bicycle Patterned Paper
