MFP Scrapbook Challenge #19

It's time for a new scrapbook challenge on Mark's Finest Papers SpeedyTV.  We have a great challenge this week so I hope you'll play along.
.
This week's challenge is a color challenge with a twist.  Your challenge is to create a monochromatic layout using a color family of your choice.  The twist is that you must also use black and white.  Your layout can be about anything you want, just be sure to use stamps somewhere on your page.

Remember this challenge is strictly scrapbook layouts, no cards please, and you have to use stamps on your layouts. They don't have to be Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co stamps but if you do use them you will receive an additional entry for a chance to win our weekly stamp prize for June ...

My grandmother had several pictures of some Boy Scouts in her album that were taken in the late 50's. The faces are a little faded, but I think one of the boys is my mother's youngest brother who was very active in the scouts.  My grandmother was a Den Mother and she really enjoyed working with the boys.

I used a sentiment stamp from the MFP In Tents stamp set.  I think the stamp sums up some of the Boy Scouts' favorite activities and I love the variety of fonts used on the wording.

I can't wait to see what you create for this week's challenge! To be eligible to win the June stamp be sure to link your page to MFP SpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge #19 and mention the MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge in your blog post. Please do not submit any back linked layouts. You have until 9:00 pm on Wednesday June 19th to submit your layouts.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Blessings to you!

Word Art Wednesday #84

Hi!!  Are you ready for some new word art?  This week's word comes from Proverbs 16...

My photo today is of my Uncle Napolean,  one of my mother's brothers.  He joined the Army right after high school.  He and my mother were the only 2 of her siblings to join the military.  While Mom only served in the Army for a few years, Uncle Napolean made it his career.  He passed away a few years ago and although I didn't know him really well,  I would like to think that his ways pleased the Lord, for the Lord protected him from his enemies throughout his life and his military carreer, including several tours in Vietman.

I hope you join the Word Art Wednesday challenge this week. Feel free to save today's word art to your computer for your personal use. Check out the Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog to see what the other design team members created with this week's word art. If you are new to our challenge, check out the challenge guidelines to find out how you can be eligible for the prize drawing from this week's sponsors NiceCrane Designs and Verve Stamps.

Thanks for stoppig by.  Blessings to you!

MFP Scrapbook Challenge #18

It's time for a new scrapbook challenge over at MFP SpeedyTV !! This week's challenge is a ribbon challenge.   Short and simple...use some type of ribbon, trim, twine, lace etc. on your layout.  Your layout can be about anything you want, just be sure to use ribbon and stamps on your page.

This week I'm using another heritage photo on my layout.   This one didn't come from my grandmother's album.  My Dad e-mailed me this photo of my Mom last week.  It was taken in Canada,  probably around 1955-58, in the early years of their marriage.  I guess my Mom was in her "tourist" attire because she has on sensible (but still fashionable) shoes.

I used some green lace trim from Webster's Pages for my challenge element.  The patterned paper is also Webster's Pages.  The sentiment stamps are a sneak peak from one of the Mark's Finest papers June release sets..."Need a Vacation".

I can't wait to see what you create for this week's challenge! To be eligible to win the June image stamp be sure to link your page to MFP SpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge #18 and mention the MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge in your blog post. Please do not submit any back linked layouts. You have until 9:00 pm on Wednesday June 12th to submit your layouts.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Blessings to you!

Word Art Wednesday #83

It's Word Art Wednesday time!  This week's word art comes from the Book of Psalms...

My maternal grandparents had lots of children and I suspect that they were pretty happy.  The photo on my layout today is of some of my mother's siblings. It was taken sometime in the 1940's.  My mom was the oldest, the children pictured were the youngest and there were a few in between.  I only have one brother and one child so I often wonder what it's like to grow up in a big family.  I'm guessing with lots of people around there's never a dull moment and not lots of quiet either.

The black lace border above the green ribbon on my layout is actually a digi stamp from one of today's sponsors Milk Coffee Digi Stamps.  It was so easy to print on my background cardstock and I love how it looks on the page. My patterned paper is by Webster's Pages,  one of my go to companies for my grandmother's album.

I hope you join the Word Art Wednesday challenge this week. Feel free to save today's word art to your computer for your personal use. Check out the Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog to see what the other design team members created with this week's word art. If you are new to our challenge, check out the challenge guidelines to find out how you can be eligible for the prize drawing from this week's sponsors Milk Coffee Digi Stamps and JellyPark Digi Stamps.
