Scrappy Friends Challenges

One of the things I've decided to do this year is get back to scrapbooking just for the fun of it.  No special album or event I'm trying to get finished, just picking a photo(s) I like and scrapping it "just because".  I haven't participated in any challenges in quite awhile, but when I saw the January Scrappy Friends Challenges,  I thought why not give it a shot. I combined 2 of the 3 challenges ... Rochelle's This or That Challenge and Kelly's January Mood Board Challenge.

Rochelle's This or That Challenge was to use either twine or ribbon on your layout.  I choose to use twine, which I added to the bottom of my page.  For Kelly's Mood Board Challenge, I was inspired by the snow pictures and the color scheme of the wedding photo on her mood board.

I also found a Sequins or Glitter challenge this week on the  Use Your Stuff  Challenge Blog .  I think sequins added the perfect finishing touch to my page.

Here's my completed layout.  The photo is of my dad and me on Christmas morning 2015.  It's hard to believe that he celebrated his 87th birthday 3 weeks ago.

Thanks for stopping by today.

MLK Day

Today is Martin Luther King Jr Day, a US federal holiday that celebrates the birthday and legacy of the civil rights icon.  As you enjoy this day of reflection,  I just wanted to share a repost of a layout I did several years ago.  The sketch was done by my son on MLK Day, 2011.

Selah...pause, ponder, reflect.

Blessings!

Happy Throwback Thursday

It's Thursday again, time for another throwback layout.  This one is a real throwback...almost 70 years.  The layout is a current one, but the photo was taken in 1946.  Almost 70 years ago, my Dad's family started having family reunions.  They had them annually for quite awhile, then they switched to every other year.  At every reunion, the family takes a group photo.  I have been blessed to be able to attend every reunion but 1 since I was born.

Today's layout features the family photo from the first reunion in 1946.  If you look closely at the photo (click on the photo to zoom in) you'll see my dad (age 17) in the last row.  He's on the right in the group of  three.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Blessings!

Throwback Thursday

It's Throwback Thursday on Facebook so I thought why not do throwbacks here on my blog as well.  So on random Thursday's I will post a throwback layout.  It may be a layout I did years ago, a more recent layout using older photos, or a current layout using old supplies from my stash.

Since we're still in the first week of the new year, today's throwback is a New Year's Day layout that I did back in 2008.  Who would have thought that I could use the same journaling block (minus the breakfast part) on my 2016 New Year's Day layout. How's that for a tradition LOL.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Be blessed!

1st layout of 2016

It's only 2 days into the new year and I've already done my New Year's Day layout.  I didn't do nearly as much scrapbooking as I would have liked in 2015 so hopefully I can keep up the momentum going forward.

It's our family tradition to take photos on New Year's Day.  Since I store my layouts in albums by the year, these photos become the cover page for each year's album.  We brought in 2016 at the New Year's Eve Watch Night Service at our church.  The photos were taken after we returned home around 12:30 AM.

I used paper and stickers from the Teresa Collins "Hello My Name Is" Collection. The twenty 16 was die cut using a Technique Tuesday die. Enamel dots and hearts and a SandyLion sticker accent the page.

Thanks for stopping by.  Looking forward to sharing more with you in 2016.

Blessings!
